An incomplete Form 2441 will be created if you start the Child and Dependent Care section but don't complete it. This can cause problems when attempting to file your return.

To resolve:

  1. While signed in to your return, go to My Account > Tools > Topic Search.
  2. Type child care in the search box and click Go.
  3. At the Did you pay for child or dependent care in 2016? screen, answer Yes. (Even though it doesn't make sense.)
  4. Continue to the Whose care did you pay for? screen and uncheck all boxes. Click Continue.
  5. In the upper right corner, click My Account > Tools and then select Delete a Form from the options listed.
  6. Scroll down the list of forms and click Delete next to 2441.
  7. Click Delete Form to confirm. You should see the message Form Successfully Deleted. Click Continue.
  8. Back at the Review Form List screen, scroll down to make sure 2441 no longer appears on the list.

If the above instructions do not work, go back to your w-2 entry and check if you have an amount in Box 10 of your W2.  If so, delete that amount, even if you have the number zero.

I am having the same issue. the instructions listed from 2019 do not work. Tried numerous times, deleted the form only to show up as an error: fix form 2441. Any advise from Turbotax on 2020 MacBook version ?  I have no provider nor costs

First, double-check your W-2 to be sure an amount for dependent care benefits has not been entered in Box 10.  This entry could create Form 2441 on its own for reconciliation.

See the following TurboTax article for instructions to delete a form when using the installed version of TurboTax.  There is specific guidance listed for Mac versions:

I had the same issue and the problem was that I entered some self employment income for my wife which allowed me to enter a value for the childcare deduction.  Then I deleted my wifes income which made it impossible to access/delete the value for the childcare deduction so the 2241 kept getting re-generated.

"Solution"(I use this word loosely):
Add income for your spouse of more than $8500
Go back to the childcare credit and remove the amounts paid you entered

Delete the form from the tax tools menu

complete your filing.

You may also need to delete a state generated form for childcare expense as well.

Hope this helps.  I will never use Turbo tax again.  This was absolutely abysmal to figure out!

The program is meant to work in a forward motion from income to deductions  and when you falsely entered income to force the 2441  and then backed up to remove the income you "messed" with the system which caused a lot of issues.   The proper way to fix this was to put the fake income back,  remove the 2441 info then go back and remove the incorrect income.
