Self-Employed Home Office and Solar Loan

My wife is self-employed and we installed solar panels on our house a couple of years ago.  We never depreciated the solar assets to the house for the home office (our tax preparer did do that for the first couple of years that my wife was self-employed) or deducted the solar loan expense.

Can I deduct the solar loan as a utility expense for the home office expenses?

You would have to depreciate the asset.

No, that it is not a utility expense.  It is loan payment for a home improvement.

Thanks, David

I know this solar loan is not deductible under personal deductions, so I cannot itemize the interest on it.  In the business section, would I input the full payment amount under "Other Home Expenses" with HOA dues, or would I have to depreciate the asset?
