Schedule C expenses are grayed out not allowing any input. How do I activate this?

What version are you in?   You can enter Self Employment Income into Online Deluxe but if you have any expenses you will have to upgrade to the Premium version. Or use any of the Desktop CD/Download programs.

After receiving a discount code to enable the schedule C form to input expenses, I was able to complete my return. I have used TurboTax for decades and completed my taxes using the Deluxe version. Apparently changes have been made to require the use of a Premium version at a significantly increased price to allow me to this. Given that, this will probably be my last filing with TurboTax.

In the Online version you have always needed to use the Self Employed version (now called Premium) to enter Schedule C expenses.  So that is not a change.  Maybe you used the Desktop program before?  In the Desktop program you could use Deluxe.  All the Desktop programs have the same forms. You just get more help and guidance in the higher versions.
