I have been trying to solve this 1099 NEC issue for 2 days now. I have read every post pertaining to it with no luck and no success.
Today I called the help line and was informed that we need to use the 1099-MISC form. Those of you doing all the "add form" things and having issues with that mess, just use the normal MISC form and move on.
As long as the company who paid you is input, their i.d input, the amount paid to you input, there should be no issues with IRS.

No one is able to see your other posts. You will not be able to enter 1099-MISC to report non-employee compensation. If you were to enter it in the program, you would find no box to enter the income. You must enter it as a 1099-NEC. [Edited 05/10/2021|8:02PM EST]
Nope. I did along with the expert in phone help. Box 3 was where we put the income on the 1099 MISC form. I believe it was titled "Other Income".
So tell me where to find that 1099 NEC form in the software? I tried to create it by adding a new form (like most forum replies said to do), it showed the manual form input as 1099 nec, but when I exited, that form reverted to sch c and then showed 2 separate sch c forms. I also tried to search it (like most replies said to do), then click "jump to" but all my search box shows is all these posts related to 1099-NEC on the site. I even argued that point with the phone help until I allowed her to connect to see for herself.
Take a screen shot of the entire 1099-NEC page so I can see where it is please. I ...we went through every step in income, and it never showed anything like what you posted. And what does "No one is able to see your other posts" mean?
Assuming you were trying to enter your 1099-NEC that was unrelated to a business, you would need to report it as follows to ensure it isn't treated as self-employment income.
You would find the overall input for 1099-NEC as shown in the sample screenshot below under the section titled Other Common Income (as outlined in step 2 above).
It's for business.
I found the problem. The update part of my copy was not working correctly. I had TT help on the phone for them to see and they indeed saw there was no 1099 NEC form anywhere to be found when they connected to my desktop. That's when she had me put the income in the MISC form. Tonight I ran into another problem when I was attempting to go through the "lets see if you have errors" part at the end. It would not do the download before that check. It would just sit where it said "waiting for installer service". I uninstalled my browser (not good) and disabled both my anti-virus programs (not good). Enabled edge, then tried again and it finally downloaded. That was the bug? Now it shows the 1099 NEC form and so far so good. There were also other major issues when she was connected. We saw an error that needed attention. Went there and saw where somehow I was some sort of Church employee? It added an additional $137,000+ to my adjusted income!!! I think I have that fixed now. Not kidding. I must have a bad cd copy? My apologies for not knowing the updates were never completing, but they clearly showed they did except for the final one at the end. Thanks a bunch TT for hours and hours of pulling what hair I have left trying to use a simple sw program I have used for over 10 years with null issues for 9 of them. BTW, the 2 woman who helped me are my hero's for the day! Sandra from Alabama, and Charlotte from Texas. Great job ladies!!!
