Turbotax wants to fill schedule C

Good afternoon,

My wife did some part time work for a company and received a 1099 misc.

In Turbotax, it takes me to a section to complete Schedule C.

Last year, I had someone do our taxes and the only thing they did was a Schedule 1.

We don't own a business.  How do I keep from filling Schedule C, but, entering information in Schedule 1?

Thank you

That is self employment income.

Yes you are the owner of your own self employment business.  You are in business for yourself.  Use your own info.  The people or company that pays you is your customer or client.  You need to fill out schedule C for self employment business income.  You are considered to have your own business for it.  YOU are the business.

To report your self employment income you will fill out schedule C in your personal 1040 tax return and pay SE self employment Tax.  You can enter Self Employment Income into Online Deluxe or Premier but if you have any expenses you will have to upgrade to the Self Employed version.  Or use any Desktop CD/Download program.

By the way, What schedule 1 line was it on last year?  She needs to pay the SS & Medicare tax on it.
