You should only enter the amount of your stimulus payments on the recovery rebate credit worksheet in TurboTax. You can follow these steps in TurboTax to enter your answers:
I opened Turbo Tax and began a return that prompted me to enter status of my stimulus payments. I received the 2nd but not the first. Unfortunately, I had to restart the return (from scratch) and this prompt has not displayed nor can I find any fields to take me to a Stimulus section to enter for a credit. I found a search for Stimulus, but not a "Jump to Stimulus" as noted in one of the forums. Please assist! Thank you!
The stimulus questions are found in the "Federal Review" tab. Click "Federal" in the left hand menu and then click "Federal Review" at the top right of your TurboTax page.
Thanks, but I still am not finding. I see Forms and Other Tax Documents in this section. Not finding a form referencing Stimulus, nor any ‘other’ topic referencing Stimulus or Economic... in this page.
I have found the federal credit worksheet by selecting Forms. It is located just above the Form 1040. Thank you to all for your help.
I found the 'Jump to Stimulus' , but when I clicked on it, I was simply taken to the page where it says: 'We're Ready to Review Your Federal Return'. That page only gives me a choice to click on either 1.) Yes, I've entered everything and let's review or 2.) No. I have something to enter.
I see nothing that mentions the Economic Stimulus Payment! Where can I find it?? I have never received the second payment of $600 and the IRS site says that I have to recover it on my tax return! Please help me!!!
The stimulus section will not come up if TurboTax thinks you are not eligible for a Recovery Rebate Credit based on the information you entered. If you believe you qualify, review your entries.
Any Recovery Rebate Credit added to your tax return is based on 2020 information. Some people received payments based on their 2019 taxes that were actually ineligible based on their 2020 taxes.
Generally, if you were a U.S. citizen or U.S. resident alien in 2020, were not a dependent of another taxpayer and have a Social Security number that is valid for employment, you are eligible for the Recovery Rebate Credit. Your credit amount will be reduced if your adjusted gross income (AGI) is more than:
Your payment will be reduced by 5% of the amount by which your AGI exceeds the applicable threshold above.
This answer should be in HUGE RED LETTERS!!! I wasted a day of my time, energy and emotional stability as well as half-days for TWO of your assistants who tried to help solve my constantly crashing computer program due to TT. Post again and post OFTEN!!!
