Qualified business income, yes or no

I keep getting a notice to fix errors on my tax return, I get asked several questions regarding my 1099-MISC about qualified business income.  It says yes, no, or no entry.  I put no entry because it is not on my 1099 and it won't accept it. what gives?

What kind of business do you have?  Do you work for a former employer?

I work for a current employer.  They do not provide a W-2. just a 1099-MISC

I have the same issue with material provided, accounting method, and required to file 1099.  I do not have any of those boxes on my 1099-MISC

Has this always been an independent contractor relationship?  If you are getting a 1099 you are considered self-employed generally.

I have always felt i should be given a W-2 but I guess they consider us independent contractors

If you are being mis-classified as an independent contractor and are actually and employee then you should not take the Qualified Business Income Deduction so your answer would be no.  One of the exclusions are "Performing Services as an Employee"https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/tax-cuts-and-jobs-act-provision-11011-section-199a-qualified-business-i...

You can select no instead of no entry.
