In the federal section of TurboTax, after you enter the 1099-INT, look for the Do any of these uncommon situations apply? You will be able to select Maine bond interest included in federal income.
Income from bonds that originate in Maine is not taxable. Maine Title 35-A, §9407
Thanks Mary, But I have gone through the Turbotax program multiple times, from beginning to end, for both state and federal including federal INT and the panel for uncommon situations you cut-and-pasted does not show up. Is there some "back-door" way to get to that panel?. Not sure why it does not show up. I get a longer lists of situations but none with states that do not tax the US Government Bond interest. Any more suggestions? thanks again.
