If you are working in the desktop version of TurboTax, you can use the Open Form option you will see on the top of the Forms in My Return column and then type in "4797" and you will see the form appear in the list. Otherwise, you will have to enter the sale of a business asset to see the form appear.
Installment sales usually go on a form 6252 ... are you sure you don't need that form first ?
Yes I'm sure. We sold our business on an installment sale 4 years ago and have had an accountant do our taxes
the last 3 years and this is one of the forms she used. This year I planned on doing my own . Trying to find this from shouldn't be this difficult.
The TurboTax program doesn't have blank forms in it per-se. The program is designed and intended to be used in Interview mode. The program will create forms on an "as needed" basis, based on the data you enter and selections you make.
Additionally, with the online version of TurboTax, forms mode is flat out not available or possible.
@DP56 you must report the installment sale in the correct section for the form 4797 to be produced.
