I am unable to find a code that matches my business very well.  I am a solopreneur and I make handcrafted jewelry in my home.  I sell my pieces to local and online clients.  Because I do both wholesale and retail, the codes under Wholesale Trade don't apply.  I don't have a store, so the codes under Retail Trade don't apply.  Where to go next?  I've read blog and forum posts indicating that 711510 "Independent artists, writers, & performers" is the best fit, but it still doesn't sound exactly right to me.

Not a definitive answer, but some ideas:

What is the highest concentration of sales coming from:

• Retail Sales?
• Wholesale Sales?
• Web Sales?

If you are hand fabricating, casting, or doing production, and selling a fairly similar amount in all three sales streams, then choose Jewelry and Silverware Manufacturing 339910.

If you sell mostly online, even if it is a mix of wholesale and retail, then use Electronic Shopping 454111.

If you are a maker and selling mostly at Jewelry Trade Shows, then choose Jewelry, Watch, Precious Stone, and Precious Metal Merchant Wholesalers 423940.

If you don’t have a public store front, but are open by appointment only or sell at Art Shows, and your highest revenue stream is Retail Sales, then select Jewelry Stores 448310.

I don't think 711510 would be appropriate at all.  That code really relates to those in artistic productions, cultural works, More for actors, speakers, dancers, writers, etc.
