Hello, I was wondering if anyone had any advice/suggestions for me.
My family welcomed a new baby last year in June 2021 and we filed our taxes with TurboTax. We got our refund in Feb and got the child tax credit, however we have not received the baby's stimulus check. I asked a Tax Expert with TurboTax if I filed correctly, to which they told me I did and I just had to wait for the IRS to recognize my baby's SS. However, I've read elsewhere I should've claimed it as a rebate credit on our return.
Do I need to amend my tax returns to get the baby's stimulus money or is it even worth amending??
Thanks!

First, look at your tax return Form 1040 Line 30 to see if there is a Recovery Rebate Credit of $1,400 entered.
If there is an entry then the child's $1,400 credit was included in your tax return. If there is no credit, then you will have to amend your 2021 tax return to receive the Recovery Rebate Credit for the child.
An amended return, Form 1040-X, can only be printed and mailed to the IRS if the original tax return was not e-filed. The IRS will take up to 16 weeks or longer to process an amended tax return.
See this TurboTax support FAQ for amending a 2021 return - https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/tax-return/help/how-do-i-amend-my-2021-return/00/2544441
The stimulus payment is not a separate check for a baby born in 2021. It would be part of your total 2021 refund. Look at line 30 of your Form 1040. The EIP payment (recovery rebate credit of $1400) might already be there if you entered your child as a dependent for 2021. It is important with a new baby to say the child lived with you the whole year, and to answer NO to the oddly worded question that asks if the child paid over half their own support. If you did not get the credit on line 30, wait for your return to be fully processed and amend to get it. You should see the child tax credit on line 28.
