How long ago was your e-file accepted?

You may need to be more patient with a system that is overwhelmed,  and give the IRS some time to begin processing your return.

Sometimes people get confused by the “summary” given by TurboTax and use the wrong amount for the federal refund.  Make sure you are only using the federal refund amount, and not an amount that combined your federal and state refunds.

Your federal refund amount is on line 34 of your Form 1040

Mine is doing the same thing currently.
filed January 14th.
accepted on February 13th.
have not been able to track it due to it saying the info entered is not correct.

however, everything is correct. Social, date, filing status, federal amount...

not sure if it’s just overwhelmed or if there’s a bigger issue.

Here are a few reasons why you may be getting the following message at Where's My Refund?

We cannot provide any information about your refund. You must wait at least 24 hours after you get the acknowledgment e-mail that your tax return was received by the IRS.

  • Your e-filed return was accepted (received) by the IRS less than 24 hours ago. Wait at least 24 hours after acceptance before using WMR.
  • Your return is still pending.
  • You never e-filed. You can quickly find out if you did by checking your status.
    • If you don't see a status, go through the TurboTax File section again. Be sure to go all the way to the end and select Transmit my returns now.
  • You mailed your return less than 4 weeks ago. Paper-filers should wait 4 weeks before using WMR.
  • If it's late January or early February, WMR can be overwhelmed by early filers. Call the WMR automated hotline instead: 1-800-829-1954.

Today when I checked the where’s my refund app and webpage, I was told that my information was incorrect. My information was indeed entered correctly. When I called the automated hotline

800–829–1954, the very same information yielded the appropriate response which was my return is being processed. So you may have the exactly correct information but the website apparently is currently overwhelmed or malfunctioning for uncertain reasons; try the automated hotline.
