Why is my return almost double the amount my boyfriend made if we both make the same and filed the same?

You both file Single?  Any dependents?  Might have different federal tax withholding taken out on W2 box 2.  Did anyone claim you or him as a dependent, like your parents?  You would have to compare the returns side by side, line by line to see what’s different.

Both as single, neither claimed eachother...I noticed mine did have more federal income tax withheld...maybe that was it

You may both make the same but have different amounts withheld.. Compare tax withheld on your W-2s.
