Why has my return (with Form 8396) said I could file on 2/3/22 for the last 2 weeks and now on 2/3, it says I can't file until 2/17/22?

Why has my return (with Form 8396) said I could file on 2/3/22 for the last 2 weeks and now on 2/3, it says I can't file until 2/17/22?

So I just spoke with a support person at turbotax.  Apparently they are aware that the form is available from the IRS, and that it "should" be available with them.  I was told this was a software developer issue, and that the developers are having an issue getting this form to work with TurboTax.  The currently projected date of 3/3/22 is a placeholder, and the form will be made available as soon as they get it fixed.

First year for me using this form, so I assume its my fault.  Sorry everyone 🙂

It says this:

Federal Forms                                       Available to File

Form 8396

Mortgage Interest Credit                         2/17/2022

Form 8396 is for the Interest Credit.

it depends. To clarify, this Turbo Tax link states that this is available 12/10.

Right, but like I said, as recently as yesterday it still said 2/3 (on that link included) and now it has switched.

I have never had this problem and this year the date keeps getting pushed back. My now show it will be available on 03/03/2022. I don't understand why there is an issue with this form.

Same.  I have had the credit for 9 years now and always file either end of January or beginning of February and have never had any issues until this year.

When I enTer my mcc information it does not change my refund amount. Do I still have to file it?

In this public forum, we are provided with form availability information but not an explanation as to why the form is not available or why the date has changed. For more specific information about the form's status, it would be necessary to contact Customer Support.

This is so frustrating. First it said it would be available on 2/10.......... now its saying 3/3. Is this only for turbo tax and not other tax preparation softwares?

I wanted to know the same thing. There’s really not an explanation for why it is not available. Like others have said, it previously showed it would be available on 2/10 and then the date switched to 3/3 when checking on it today. Seems like a long time to wait. It has never been like this in years past. Furthermore, the form is on the IRS website so why is it not available to be used to file with Turbo Tax. It would be nice to get a clear cut answer and not just a general link that provides different dates forms are available as per Turbo Tax. What’s the hold up with this form. Please clarify and give a definitive answer.

I have the same issue, I already paid and now I'm stuck.
