I mailed around mid December 2023 my 2022 amended tax return. I just mailed regular mail. I went to the website to check
https://www.irs.gov/filing/wheres-my-amended-return
There is no information. It has been a month since I mailed it in. Does this mean it may have got lost? Should I just print and mail another 1040x amended return?

No, don't mail another copy yet.
While it is possible it was lost, the post office has been taking an average of 7 business days to deliver regular first-class. But there have been several holidays and weather closures in the last four weeks.
I'd wait at least two more weeks before assuming it was lost.
Ok I just checked again and it says there is nothing. It’s been about 7 weeks since I mailed it in. Should I wait for another couple of months?
The link below says it could take 20 weeks to show up in the system?
Is this sound normal?
Yes keep waiting. It may take 6 months or more.
There is no way that it will take 6 months to show up in the system? I mailed in December 2023 so you’re suggesting that it could take until June 2024 to get the return in the mail or show up in the system?
There is no harm to mail another one just in case right?
I would not mail another copy. When you mail something to the IRS, it gets piled up until they have someone scan it into the system. They do this in the order they are received. The IRS is very backlogged the way it is. If it gets scanned in and starts processing and another amendment (a second copy you send) gets scanned in, it will delay the whole process for you. I would wait until the beginning of March at least before assuming it is lost.
I sent in and amended return for 2021 in February 2023 via Priority Mail with a Signature Required. I have a signed receipt with an IRS employee's name on it for February 27, 2023. I still haven't seen my over $3000 refund. It doesn't show up in their online Where's My Refund system. I actually called and waited a long time on hold about a year ago. The lady I talked said that she couldn't find it in their system but that they were very backed up and that I shouldn't send in another copy for processing! Any ideas on how to proceed?
The IRS does take a long time to process paper returns; right now they are returns mailed in July 2024. You mailed your return way before that, I would suggest that you contact the Taxpayer Advocate Service to see if they can assist you.
Just so you are aware, I have heard people mailed in amended returns from close to a year and still have not received their refund. That is how slow they are.
