How did you go back in?
If you actually filed........You cannot change or add anything on the return that you e-filed. It is too late, just like when you put an envelope in a US mailbox
Now you have to wait until the IRS either rejects or accepts your return. Which won't be until Feb 12 this year. If your return is rejected, you will be able to go into your account and add or change it and resend it. Click on Add a State to let you back into your return..
If the IRS accepts your return, then you have to wait until it has been fully processed and you have received your refund or paid the tax due. THEN you can prepare an amended tax return 1040X and mail it in. You cannot e-file an amended return. Meanwhile, DO NOT change anything on your return until you start the amended return. If you did change or add the missing info then take it out and put your return back to the way it was when you first filed it.

How to amend an Online return
https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/amending/help/how-do-i-amend-my-turbotax-online-return/00/27577I think it locks your account after you file.
I meant to add that I put the wrong amount in for the amount of stimulus I got the first time..I went back and edited that to the right amount and it shows that it was changed ..but not sure if it really got changed.
I did the exact same thing.
My return was accepted.
Do I wait to be able to amend?
Do we have any answers on this? I did the same thing. My return was accepted, although i input the wrong amount when it asked for my stimulus.
I actually talked to someone at turbo tax and he looked at all my info and told me that the IRS has all that info and they will know that it was wrong and he then looked at the end of my tax form and showed me that even though i put wrong amount of stimulus in that at the end it all came out right ..he said not to worry about it that it worked it’s self out at the end
Agreed ... if your ONLY error was the stimulus amount then the IRS will/should automatically correct that "math error" and adjust the refund accordingly. If for any reason they do not then and only then can/should you amend the return. This can/may cause a delay in processing so just sit tight.
I just realized I did this too and I’m FREAKING out. I think it was accepted but it’s saying it’s still being processed.
Oh thank God. That sounds amazing. I sure hope turbo tax is right. I am straight trippen right now.
Have you received your refund yet? I did the same thing
