I just received another TT update (2/15/2018), which is good to be current, but what does one do if the tax return is filed before the last TT update & who has liability if this updates results in an error?

Always print a copy of your completed tax return for your records, and review it carefully before e-Filing.
If an update changes TurboTax calculation of tax, you need that paper copy to do your amended return.
