Not everyone who works receives a tax refund.
If the total tax liability is greater than your tax payments you will have taxes owed.
Look at your tax return, Form 1040
Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the screen. Click on Tools. Click on View Tax Summary. Click on Preview my 1040 on the left side of the screen.
@ZsaZsa1962 For what tax year? Employers have until January 31 to issue your 2019 W-2's. No one can see your tax return. We cannot see anything that you have entered regarding income received or tax withheld. You only get a refund if you had too much tax withheld, and/or if you are qualified for certain refundable credits. Without any personal information, provide some details so we can help you understand.
It goes by your total income and how much withholding is taken out. Withholding is just an estimate. If they take out more than the tax on your income you get a refund. If you don't have enough withholding then you end up with a tax due. The best way is to come out even, owe nothing and for the IRS not to owe you either. You should not give the IRS an interest free loan all year.
