What is qualifying assurance review

Usually It takes 5-7  business days to receive my State refund. When I called on the 10th day to see what is the hold up they said that my state refund was under qualifying assurance review (QAR) . I do not understand why would my refund under QAR .

Your tax return was more than likely selected at random by the state for the qualifying assurance review.  The states do reviews of this nature to verify that the state programs are accurately processing  tax returns.

It usually takes about 2 weeks but it can take longer. See this information regarding QAR.
