I may have missed some earlier posts but why are you asking about amending if you don't know what it means? Was something wrong on the return you filed?
My question is because I collected unemployment benefits and the first $10,200 was non-taxable should I amend my return?because mine was already processed and I received my Federal and State refunds already.
My return was accepted Feb 17 , 2021 and the WMR site says “ still being processed “ . It’s been 22 days so I guess I should be watching for a letter from IRS though I have no clue what could be wrong . I’m hoping it’s just because they are behind on processing but I know many that have received their $$ and they filed after me .
No, and I never got a letter saying I needed to, but someone commented and said I needed to after my taxes were accepted.
I had a letter from IRS a week ago and I was nervous to open it but it turned out to be a letter regarding the 2nd Covid Stimulus check . That was all . Now I’m still waiting on my return that was accepted Feb 17 , 2021 but still says “ still being processed .
This is the latest news from the IRS commissioner regarding the backlog IRS commissioner says he hopes to clear tax refund backlog by summer
I went to Liberty Tax Service and paid 250.00 for them to amend it. Now you can do it on line but it'll still cost you. They will redo your taxes with the form you are missing and send it back in. I had to wait 7 months and got my refund for last year just last month. They are just so behind from last year. You have to have a lot of patience. Good luck to you...
I have not got anything that says I need to ammend, so does that mean I don't need to? I just filed for my taxes and claimed the missing stimulus from last year, so would this make it to where I would need to ammend ?
No, you only amend if your taxes were missing a certain form or if something went in wrong. I claimed missing stimulus for last year and already got it back.
I did that last year through Turbo Tax and didn't realize that it went in incomplete... then you will get notice that you are under a 60 day review because they know it's wrong. If there is a missing form they will send it to you. After I filled out the child tax credit form they lost it because that was right around the time they closed for the pandemic. I had to amend my tax return last July after they did pay what I sent in in June. It took me til last month to get that. They are really far behind so it may be nothing. It's hard to be patient when you need the money I know. I wish you luck.
Please check WMR and your transcripts. My WMR has been updated with a hyperlink to Tax Topic 152, Refund Information. Also the refund amount is missing, most likely due to recalculations for the Unemployment tax credit in the latest Relief bill. I have seen other folks reports that they are now seeing there 2020 transcripts show up and the WMR status bar show up with a Deposit Date. It appears that there maybe some progress with processing of refunds.
What do you mean by transcripts? My wmr has not changed for 38 days now.
The IRS lets you view transcripts of your tax returns. There is a link in the tools section of the irs website that lets you download an online copy of your tax transcripts.
I haven’t received my refund yet I requested a check but it’s been 34 days since it was accepted
I filed in Jan what do you know ...still processing trash!!!
