Do you have a TurboTax Online account?

We'll help you get started or pick up where you left off.

We filed for an extension and time has simply gotten away from us. Is it best to file to the very best of our knowledge or wait and file late after getting more help?

So, would it be better to file today with what we have or wait until we have everything and file late?

We cannot advise you about that as we know nothing about your tax situation. You can still file your 2016 tax return after the filing deadline. You will be able to e-file up to October 16, 2017 at 11:59 p.m.  If you are getting a refund, it will be OK to file past the deadline; you will not be penalized.  However, if you owe tax due, your return will be considered late,  and penatlies/interest will start to accrue.

After October 16, you will not be able to e-file.  Your return will have to printed signed and mailed.
