Update my direct deposit information to receive my stimulus check

According to the IRS:

The IRS does not have my direct deposit information. What can I do?

In the coming weeks, Treasury plans to develop a web-based portal for individuals to provide their banking information to the IRS online, so that individuals can receive payments immediately as opposed to checks in the mail.

Update my direct deposit information to receive my stimulus check

It depends.

We are unable to confirm the details of your personal tax account here as this is a public forum.

I would recommend you reach out to TurboTax using the link below for more specific information as to your scheduled phone call.

In regards to #2, if you are preparing your tax return for 2019, you will be able to enter your direct deposit information in the File section of the program when you get ready to submit your return.  You do not need to do anything else.

Also, if you filed a return in 2018, you also do not need to do anything as the IRS will use that information if your 2019 return has not been filed yet.

Update my direct deposit information to receive my stimulus check

Your banking information can be updated by filing your 2020 tax return if you have not already filed. If you have already filed, contact the IRS at 800-829-1040.

To receive stimulus checks that have not been received when filing your 2020 tax return, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the search box and enter stimulus. Click the Jump to link.
  2. Answer Yes.
  3. At the next screen, Let's double-check the amount you received, answer No to edit the first-round and second-round amounts.
  4. If no stimulus amount was received, enter 0. An amount should be entered in each box. When finished, click Continue.
