Change the routing number or account number after its filed

If you've already filed and your return has been accepted (or mailed), it's too late to change your bank account for direct deposit.

If you transferred your info from your 2015 tax return, TurboTax may prompt you to deposit your tax refund into the same account you used last year.

You can easily edit the account info you wish to transfer your money into before you file.

If it is accepted, however, it is too late to change it. If the account is still incorrect. The bank will reject the refund and send it back to the IRS.  Then the IRS will issue a paper check and mail it to the address you put on your tax return.  For mailed returns, allow 5-6 weeks from the postmark date.

Also you can call the IRS to see if maybe you can change it to the correct account.

Their telephone number is 1-800-829-1040- Business hours Monday - Friday 7am-7pm.

Change the routing number or account number after its filed

Unfortunately, it does not help.  TurboTax did not give me the option to enter the number and it was transferred from last year.  The number got pulled in from somewhere else.  It is not any account I have now or have ever had.
