Absolutely the exact same issue. I cannot imagine any other reason for this other than Intuit is forcing customers to pay for E-file state returns rather than email for free. A total money grab.
I get the same boop sound and nothing happens
I’m have the same problem spent over 3 hours with TT support first one was useless second tried hard but still can’t print. On IMAC. Have used TT since 1995. WTH. May have to go to HR Block as i have several family members who rely on me. Didn’t read these till after wasting time with TT support they acted like they had never heard this but evidently im not alone. Also i still have 2023 on computer and it prints fine..
thanks for letting me rant.
Thanks, worked for me too!
Thanks for the workaround. The "Save to PDF" menu item worked for me. The Print feature continues to fail, even after installing the Feb 5th update.
Yesterday 2 hours on phone. Kept trying to get me to e-file. Not free for me and said no. Then direct to PDF. would not print. Appeared not to try to fix program printing. Ended call. Today I reset everything - wifi, router, printer, iMac, updated OS, deleted tax program and reinstalled - still not printing. 2023 and 2022 Tax, Excel, Word, Note - all printed with no problem. 2024 Tax no print. Logged on to see if I'm the Lone Ranger with this problem. Appears many are having the same problem. Will be calling Turbotax again in morning. Fix or give me my money back. Been a subscriber since the Eighties and seems every year I run into some problem where I have to call. Common for once fix the print. Thank you all who posted there problems so I don't feel alone. Good Evening.
I'm having this exact same problem with printing. I'm connected with a HP LaserJet using a USB cable. Everything else prints just fine, but no TurboTax 2024. Very frustrating.
Here are a couple work-arounds:
1) Use the "Save to PDF" option in the "File" menu of the desktop program and save a copy of your returns to location you can easily find on your computer.
2) Open the PDF of your returns in your PDF reader program (acrobat, Preview, etc.) and use that program to print to your local printer.
Thank you but this does not solve the issue to Print required forms to mail to IRS button. These forms are not included from the File menu.
Ok, let me see if I can find anything.
Are you using these instructions: How do I get a PDF of my return?
Worked for me, too.
Fellow TurboTaxers ...
I have posted the following information probably about 10 times in this one thread, and a handful of times in other threads as well. It seems to have worked for everybody so far.
I discovered it in late January by playing around with whatever TurboTax would allow me to do, print-wise, after I encountered my own Print problems.
I've been watching this thread for a week. It seems that some people can do some things in order to print ... and other people cannot do those things, but other things instead, in order to print. I do believe that the following method, while cumbersome, has worked for everybody so far. Best wishes to all!
Here's how I eventually got my 2024 Tax Return to print (Mac Desktop with TurboTax Desktop Version, HP printer)...
1) With TurboTax open on my desktop and on the Save For Your Records tab ...
2) I clicked on "File" from the TurboTax menu in the top menu bar ...
3) Then I chose "Preview" at the bottom of the "File" dropdown menu ...
4) Upon doing that, a new Preview window opened up.
5) Ensure that "2024 Federal Tax Return" is checked on the left hand side of the new window.
6) Choose which 2024 Tax Return forms you'd like to print. (I stuck with the default labeled "Recommended forms & worksheets."
7) Click on the blue "Preview" button in the lower right of that same window.
😎 Another new window will open up -- this one, at least on my computer, is a very tiny version of my entire 2024 Federal Tax Return.
9) Put your cursor over the tiny preview window (ie, over your mini-tax return). A small 4-item menu will appear (if it's not already there).
10) Click on the little icon to the left of the download arrow. (The download arrow on the far right of that 4-item menu did not function properly for me. It would not download the preview.) The icon you should click on looks like an ink bottle in front of a square piece of paper.
11) Now, a new window will open up in the "Preview" app. In my case, the new document that opened up had a strange document name with six letters and numbers followed by "-Unknown.pdf." I changed the document's name to my own choosing prior to taking the next step so that I could find my file after I saved it.
12) Now, from the Preview menu in the top menu bar, Click on "File."
13) Click on "Print" at the bottom of that "File" menu.
14) You will now be able to Save your TurboTax return as a PDF ... and/or ... you will be able to Print your TurboTax return.
15) Phew. That's a lot of work, TurboTax! You need to do better.
IF THIS WORKS FOR YOU, I would really appreciate a thumbs up on the icon below! 🙂
Best wishes to all!
I have this same problem. I have a Mac, fully updated, printer works fine with other things. I updated my turbotax desktop software. I asked it to save it as a pdf. When it asks you to name the file it comes up 'JoeShmoe24' Change it to JoeShmoe24.pdf and it will save it properly. Then you can print. As for printing from their desktop, definitely an issue there that they need to fix.
