Turbo Tax Rejection

I went ahead and filed by mail after having had my taxes rejected multiple time on 4/18/2023.  It was due to some issue with my daughter who I claim as a dependent not checking a box that she could be considered a dependent by someone else on her form and filing it first.  Instead of filing for an extension I went ahead and mailed them in the next day.  It was my understanding that since I had already technically filed using Turbo Tax I had until the 23rd to get them filed.  Will I still be charged a fee for late filing (I owe) or will it be taken into account that I did actually file on the 18th even though it was rejected?

Turbo Tax Rejection

First if you have a refund the extension was not even needed.

Next if you owe you should have attached a copy of the rejection notice to the mailed in return ... if you did not then make sure to keep a copy incase the IRS questions it.

Lastly ... the child must amend their return to "unclaim" themselves then they are forbidden to file before you do in the future  or before you can review the return to make sure they don't make the same error as long as they are your qualifying dependent.
