TT PREMIER ISSUES

What in the world is going on with TT Premier 2025.  I've used TT Premier for years, hardly ever an issue, but this year has been so bad this may be my last year..  Purchased the desk top version and from the beginning I had issues.. Tried to import my financial data from Fidelity and nothing... it would show that the import was there but when  you opened it there was nothing but the instituations name and address.  Not a single piece of financial data... Had to import it 3 times before it appeared to work.  Also we have a very simple return, retired couple with social security and my wife has a pension and I have an IRA.. THAT'S IT.. In 2024 turbo tax used the 1040-SR form for our return, and we ended up owing only about $400 bucks, but this year it's telling me we owe an additional $4200.  How in the hell did the amount I owe increase 950% from one year to the next.. Yes there have been some minor changes to our financial situation, but very minor and certainly nothing to warrant this outcome.  I've been reading there are a lot of people unhappy with the issues from turbo tax.. I would like to know what are they going to do to "fix" my return this year and to keep me as a customer next year.. bottom line is I no longer trust Turbo Tax.

TT PREMIER ISSUES

I would like to take a deeper look at this. However, I need a diagnostic file, which is a copy of your tax return that has all of your personal information removed. You can send one to us by following the  directions below:


 

TurboTax Online:



 

  1. Sign into your online account.
  2. Locate the Tax Tools on the left-hand side of the screen. 
  3. A drop-down will appear. Select Tools  
  4. On the pop-up screen, click on “Share my file with agent.”
  5. This will generate a message that a diagnostic file gets sanitized and transmitted to us.
  6. Please provide the Token Number that was generated in the response.


 

TurboTax Desktop/Download Versions:


 

  1. Open your return.
  2. Click the Online tab in the black bar across the top of TurboTax and select “Send Tax File to Agent” *
  3. This will generate a message that a diagnostic copy will be created.  Click on Send and the tax file will be sanitized and transmitted to us.
  4. Please provide the Token Number that was generated in the response.  


 

*(If using a MAC, go to the menu at the top of the screen, select Help, then, Send Tax File to Agent”)

TT PREMIER ISSUES

Compare your return line by  line with last year's.  Since you have the Desktop program you can switch to Form Mode to look around.    You may have entered an amount wrong, made a typo or left out a decimal point, etc.   And you have to double check anything you imported like Fidelity.  It might have imported wrong or got in twice, etc.  

 

By the way did you get the new  6,000(12,000) Senior Deduction on 1040 line 13b?

 

ps.....the 1040-SR is exactly the same as the regular 1040 but has bigger type so it goes on 3 pages instead of 2.
