My son worked several part time jobs in 2022.
I did his taxes when he told me he had all is w2's but after it was sent in and accepted another w2 came in. It will add $600 to his ~$11000 income.
Do I need to amend his return? I'm not sure $600 will make a big difference but want to be sure.

Your son is required to report all income. However, adding $600 to his already reported income would still result in an income below the standard deduction of $12,950 and therefore he would have no taxable income. So amending is not necessary if the new form W-2 has no tax withheld. If it had tax withheld, amending would be optional to get a refund of the tax withheld on the new W-2.
Amending won't delay his original refund. However, if he is expecting a refund, we recommend that he waits to amend until after the IRS has processed his original return and he has received his refund, he can feel free to cash or spend it while his amendment gets processed
Please see this TurboTax article for instructions on how to amend your tax return.

If the new W-2 has no withholding on it AND since his income is below the filing requirement AND adding the amount will not change the bottom line then he does NOT need to file the amended return since there it nothing to gain. The IRS computers will figure the same thing out and there will be no consequenses to it down the road.
Because I got 2 different answers I asked the accountant at my job and was told because my son made less than $12,950 even with the added W2 that it was not necessary to amend.
