Where do I list new mortgage insurance premium deductible on 1040X ?

PMI premiums are part of your itemized deductions on Schedule A. In the program, you enter them in Federal Taxes, Deductions and credits, My Home.
Instructions for amending follow. Amended returns have to be filed on paper in the mail and it takes the IRS 12-16 weeks to process them. You should wait until you receive your original refund or your tax payment is processed before changing your return and mailing in the amendment.
Thanks for this. I am trying to amend my 2018 return to include the mortgage interest insurance premium deduction and I understand how to fill out the 1040-X. The problem is that the 1040-X also says to attach an updated Schedule A. The 2018 Schedule A does not have a place to claim the mortgage insurance premium as a deduction. Am I supposed to use the 2019 Schedule A to amend my 2018 return?

The IRS has yet to update the 2018 Schedule A or the 2018 Schedule A instructions to now include PMI on Schedule A Line 8d. You will need to wait for the IRS to update the 2018 Schedule A before you can amend the 2018 tax return. You have until April 15, 2022 to file a 2018 amended return for a tax refund.
It is not hard at all, TurboTax makes it easy with step-by-step guidance and help.
If you already filed your return you will need to wait to see if it was rejected or accepted. If they were rejected, you are able to login to your return to correct the errors that caused the rejection and then re-file your return. If your returns were accepted, then you will need to file an amended return. You should not try to amend your return until the original return it has been fully processed and you have received your refund or your payment has cleared.
Amended returns do not “catch up” to your original return and replace them; they are processed as two separate returns. Amended returns have to be printed and filed by mail. It can take the IRS up to 12 weeks or longer to process them. If you are due a larger refund than on your original return, your amended return should only show the difference and you will receive a separate check for it. If you owe money on your amended return, it will show only the new amount owed, you will have to mail a check with the return.
