I have a notice saying they will send me a letter within 30 days. I have no IDEA what they could be reviewing. I have been carrying my same kids and have been working at the same place for 8 years and been living at the same place for 3years. I'm so upset. I have no student loans. Never been to college. They said I couldn't call til I have received the letter. Has anyone gotten this notice before and can give me clear insight on what it can possibly be so I can have a headstart on things?

Topic No. 151 Your Appeal Rights https://www.irs.gov/taxtopics/tc151
Ok you guys I got the 151 on wheres my refund on Saturday and received the letter on Monday. Its basically you having to prove the EIC or EITC and head of household or the american opportunity credit(school ish that has nothing to do with me). They will ask for all supporting documents Birth certificates, ssc, scchool records, Mortgage intrest sheets, all that jazz. They will give you a fax number. I faxed all the info in on Tuesday and I also mailed in my proof with my fax conformation so they can see that I faxed as well (you know the IRS always claimed that havent received anything) with tracking to prove that it was delivered. I am going to take that information and fax all my documents again with with my mail delivery proof, and fax conformation sheet. Im not about to play with the IRS. They are nerve recking. I was just audited 3 years ago(you'd think they still have my proof in the system) for the same kids that Ive been carrying for 10+ AND THEY ARE MY KIIIIIIIDS!!! LOL!
@Cranman I'm homeless and have posted on other sites about this. Wondering, like you I found out about 151 on Saturday 22nd but yet to receive letter. Homeless in hotel was told could of been sent back not sure.
I claimed my 2 nephew's like I have before and with reading bup on what other people have sent in trying to get my paperwork in order now.
I have hotel receipt for entire year of 2019 here. Nephew's Birth certificate and mine. Socials. My W-2 and printed out every paycheck stub from 2019. My mom has custody of my nephew's and does traditional homeschool but that's in her name.
I don't know if there would be any oth documents I would need do you. Called IRS agent not helpful said could not see letter. Referred me to Tax Advacate
Sounds like you will only be able to carry your nephews as dependants. You wont be able to claim EIC if you cannot prove they lived with you 6 months or more of 2019. So to file as dependant you can ask your my to write out a note saying she gave you permission to file the kids(that letter needs to be notarized with a copy of her ID on it, dont forget to sigh and date) she will also need to give you those custody papers ( so you can get a copy made) to prove she has custody. If you are claiming EIC. Whose address did you use to file? If you used your moms, does the kids school have on file that they lived at the same as your mom If so you can claim head of house hold and claim EIC. If you
@Cranman My nephew's live with me and so does mom we're all homeless. Tax Advacate yesterday said I did not have to prove relationship because she could pull up sisters and see we had same mom. Said I did not have to prove income because they sent back $34 dollars of my refund.
But did say had to prove HOH and that boys lived with me for at least 6 months.
The only thing I have is rent receipt and mom has letter from public school district releasing kids from their school because she traditionally homeschool. I was also able to pull off bank statements from debit card to show when I used card to pay hotel and when I pulled off cash.
Faxing today so I pray they accept
