Tax return 2020, amend. Cant find return.

I filed my taxes with the downloaded app, before the revision where unemployment tax would to be assessed on the first 10,400. I assume I now have to amend my return, as I will no longer owe taxes... however I am unable to find the 2020 return on my computer when I open turbotax. When. try to, it just opens a new  turbotax without any of my info. I can only find prior year returns. I do. not know what happened. Not sure what to do.

If you used TT Online, you may have more than one TT Account.   If you used TT Desktop, your return is your computer hard drive.  (You did save it, right?)

But you do not need to amend for Federal.

I filed, owed and paid my federal taxes before the new stimulus package and the unemployment relief.  I now see that I should have gotten a refund from the feds instead of paying anything.  Since the IRS says NOT to file an amended return, will they automatically refund my initial payment PLUS the amount I now see as a refund?  How do I ensure the IRS has the correct direct deposit information for me?

Turbo tax cannot locate my 2020 return to amend.  It is saved as a .pdf.  Turbo tax is looking for a different kind of file .2020tax file.  How can I locate this file to amend?

Did you use TurboTax Online or CD/Download in 2020 @BrucePa125215?

You will have to download you .tax2020 file from your online account.
