For 2020 (my 2019 taxes) I made less than $4,000. When doing my taxes with TurboTax I was told at the end I would owe $361. I ended up paying that amount. While doing my taxes this year I though I may have overpaid. I'm trying to do an amended return now, but the software is not showing that I paid any taxes last year to the federal government. Yet I have the withdraw on my bank statement from July of 2020.
How should I go about putting this into the system so I can get that money back since I believe I overpaid?

Your 2020 return will not show any federal taxes paid for 2019 even though you made the payment in 2020. That payment will not affect your 2020 tax return. If you believe there was a mistake on your 2019 return that would change your taxes owed, you should amend your
2019 return.
If you clarify your question a bit someone may be able to provide help for your specific situation.
If you are amending your tax year 2019 return, at the end of the amendment interview after you have entered all of your changes, you will be asked what you paid for 2019 already. You will enter that number and if the amendment shows that you did not owe that much, a refund will be indicated.
Alright, let me just totally rephrase this question.
I filed my taxes last year. I filed on March 27, 2020, my 2019 taxes. I made a total of less than $4,000.
When I finished I was told I owed $361. I was pretty sure that was wrong, but paid anyway.
I went into the system to amend my taxes this morning (3/25/2021), to see if it was calculated correctly. I downloaded everything and now the system is saying that I did NOT pay any federal taxes last year, which is incorrect. I paid $361.
So I'm trying to find out how to put in that I DID in fact pay taxes last year.
Even when I downloaded my 2019 taxes in a PDF format, it is not showing that I paid taxes. But I DID.
Basically, had turbotax applied the standard deduction of $12K, I would not have owed anything last year because I made so little. So there was some problem with the software that made me owe when I should not have
TurboTax may not know that you paid your balance due if you did not do a direct debit payment when you filed your return for 2019.
Therefore, when you do your amended return, you will enter that you made a payment ("Total amount paid with request for extension of time to file, tax paid with original return, and additional tax paid after return was filed" - including balance due payment) of $361 . Then it should display on the 1040X line 16.
