Given that I came to U.S. in March, 2016, and started working in U.S. for the rest of the year. I know I should file my tax return as dual status. I don't have any U.S. source income for the non-resident part of year. Do I still have to attach a 1040NR (or 1040NR-EZ) with lots of ZERO to my 1040 tax return?
Or I just need to file a 1040 return under corresponding dual status restrictions?

You have to add a statement (and the easiest to use is a 1040NR) for your income as a nonresident alien, even if it has all Zeros
