SSA-1099

I e-filed my 2024 tax return and I just noticed I forgot to include my SSA-1099. My tax return was accepted processed and I received my return.  I don't know what I should do!

You will need to amend and include your SSA1099.

Go to Federal> Wages & Income>>Retirement Plans and Social Security  (SSA1099 and 1099RRB) to enter your SSA1099.

Wait until your original return has been fully processed before you amend, and make sure you have saved a pdf of the original return before you amend. (If you do not save it as a pdf, the amended return will overwrite the original, and the original will be lost forever)

See this TurboTax support FAQ for amending a tax return -

Do not expect quick results from amending. It can take four months or more for the IRS to process an amended return.

You can watch for information here:

You should wait for the return to be completely processed.

Thanks! I received the tax return funds. So I should wait for the IRS to find the error of not filing my SSA-1099?

When I amend my return for 2024 and owe them money and don't have it what should I do then?

The Social Security might not affect your tax return.   It may not be taxable.  Was any of it taxable last year on 1040 line 6b?

Up to 85% of Social Security becomes taxable when all your other income plus 1/2 your social security, reaches:

Married Filing Jointly: $32,000

Single or head of household: $25,000

Married Filing Separately: 0

When I amend my return for 2024 and owe them money and don't have it what should I do then? It's no doubt that I will have to pay the difference.

You should file the amended return. You will get a notice of tax due from the IRS and on it will be a phone number you can call to make arrangements to pay the tax due over time.
