This would be an additional tax refund, and it would have to be recalculated based on your tax return.
If your good at math you can try to follow this.
- Line 15 is taxable income
- Subtract the lesser of
- The amount you got from Unemployment, or
- $10,200
- This will give you your new taxable income.
- Based on your filing status (single, married etc.)
- Lookup your tax in the tax table
- 2020 Instruction 1040 TAX AND EARNED INCOME CREDIT TABLES (irs.gov)
- This should be less than line 16
- line 16 minus the number you calculated equals what you should get back.
