It depends on the outcome of the return. And if I was receiving more refund as a result of the extended tax legislation, I would.
The Tuition and Fees Deduction is the education tax break that was extended. If you were a student in 2017, this may be beneficial for you.
Save your original tax return. Then you can go through your education expenses again and see if the software recommends you take the Tuition and Fees Deduction instead of the other tax credits. If that's the case, you will need to amend your tax return.
