I e filed my daughters taxes on Feb. 1.   She still has not received her check. I went to get her information form the IRS and I see that that her refund increased from $6113 to $7839. I have done nothing , so I am kind of baffled as to why.  Only thing I can think of is her unemployment. Does Turbo Tax make these changes on their own?

The IRS began to accept 2020 returns on February 12.   If you are seeing an increased refund on the IRS site, the IRS has made that change.  TurboTax gets no information at all after you file your tax return.  If your daughter paid tax on unemployment then a good guess is that they have recalculated her refund for the tax law change regarding taxing unemployment.   You will just have to wait for the IRS to finish processing the return and send the refund.

They are reviewing and adjusting income due to unemployment, self employment and the like. They are giving increases on some returns. I received unemployment but didn't file it because of late paperwork but, this is what's supposedly happening.

Her refund has actually changed on the Turbo Tax. I am wondering if I went in to check something and it recalculated it
