Return not submitted by turbotax

I submitted my 2023 tax return in February, my fee for Turbotax was processed, but TurboTax never sent in my return to IRS.  I only found out by accident that the IRS never got my return, and now I have to pay interest on what I owed.  Has this happened to anyone else?  I asked for a representative from TurboTax to contact me about what happened, but no one ever responded.

Return not submitted by turbotax

Paying your TurboTax fee did not file your return.  If you did not go all the way through the FILE section and click that big orange button that said "Transmit my returns now" then you did not e-file.   Or was the return rejected and you did not notice?

Did you e-file?  Did you click a big orange button that said “Transmit my returns now?”

When you e-file your federal return you will receive two emails from TurboTax.  The first one will say that your return was submitted.  The second email will tell you if your federal return was accepted or rejected.  If you e-filed a state return, there will be a third email to tell you if the state accepted or rejected your state return.

If you did not e-file, then you can still do so before October 15, 2024, or you can print, sign and mail the return.  But if you owed tax due, it is late now and you are subject to late filing penalties and interest owed on the amount that was due by April 15, 2024.
