My check could still be on the way, but im scared checking the dependent box disqualified me from receiving one?

You are correct. Checking that you could be claimed as a dependent makes you ineligible for a stimulus payment, whether anyone did claim you or not. You can file your 2020 return correctly next year and receive the payment then.
