What is a deposit in my bank account, with PE2 mean?

This is the descriptor for the intermediary company (Santa Barbara Tax Products Group) that processes a refund when you choose to pay fees (Refund Processing Service) out of the Federal refund. That company first receives your funds from the IRS, then takes the fees out of the Federal refund, then sends the remainder on to your bank or prepaid debit card.

Please see the TurboTax FAQ below for additional information:

I got a deposit of 2,258 and come change. From tax products pe2 llc. When my federal refund is supposed to be 4,160. I was wanting to know what was going on with the almost 2,000 that is missing from the refund?

Steps to take:

Check Where's My Refund? to determine the amount released from the IRS.

  • If it was the full amount, contact SBTPG. See  Who provides Pay With My Refund?
  • If it is not the full amount, contact the Treasury Offset Program (refund offset program)  800-304-3107 to see why your refund was reduced.
