Did you e-file your tax return and was it accepted?
Only the IRS and your State control when and if a Federal or State tax refund is Approved and Issued.

You complete your tax return by finishing all 3 Steps in the File section. In Step 3, to e-file your tax return, you must click on the large Orange button labeled "Transmit my returns now".

After completing the File section and e-filing your tax return you will receive two emails from TurboTax. The first email when your tax return was transmitted and the second email when the tax return has either been accepted or rejected.

Note - Once a tax return has been Accepted by the IRS or a State, TurboTax receives no further information concerning the tax return or the status of any tax refund.  Only the taxpayer listed on the tax return can obtain the status of a tax refund or a tax return.

To check the status of an e-filed return, open up your desktop product or log into your TurboTax Online Account. You can find your status within the TurboTax product.
If accepted by the IRS use the federal tax refund website to check the refund status - https://www.irs.gov/refunds
If accepted by the state use this TurboTax support FAQ to check the state tax refund status - https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/1899433-how-do-i-track-my-state-refund

After the tax return has been Accepted by the IRS (meaning only that they received the return) it will be in the Processing mode until the tax refund has been Approved and then an Issue Date will be available on the IRS website.
See this IRS website for federal tax refund FAQ's - https://www.irs.gov/refunds/tax-season-refund-frequently-asked-questions
If over 21 days since being Accepted by the IRS and the tax refund is still Processing you can call the IRS and speak with an IRS agent concerning your tax refund.
Call the IRS: 1-800-829-1040 hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Monday-Friday
When calling the IRS do NOT choose the first option re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.
So after first choosing your language, then do NOT choose Option 1 (refund info). Choose option 2 for "personal income tax" instead.
Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".
Then press 3 "for all other questions."
Then press 2 "for all other questions."
- When it asks you to enter your SSN or EIN to access your account information, don't enter anything.
- After it asks twice, you will get another menu.

Press 2 for personal or individual tax questions.
Then press 4 for all other inquiries
It should then transfer you to an agent.

I just called this morning (45 minute wait) as my return was filed/accepted on April 12, 2020.  There was a "processing error" so the return was not processed.  They were not able to tell me what caused it, she mentioned it could just be a computer error.  My return was reviewed on April 20, 2020 so 8 weeks from that date is today June 15, 2020.  She put in a request to look at the error and get the refund out to me.  She said because of Covid processing times are slower but the waiting period is another 6-8 weeks.  So I should get it by August 10, 2020.

Also, my 2018 income was higher than 2019 but the cut-off date for returns was April 10, 2020.  If your 2019 tax returned was processed before April 10th then you will get your stimulus payment based on your 2019 return; if not then it is based on your 2018 return.  If you did not file a 2018 return then the stimulus payment will be paid after your 2019 return is processed.

I filed at the end of January. Here it is June 15th and I still haven’t received my return.

I filed electronically on April 30th and received the response the tax return was accepted. It was a very simple return but it continues to show being processed. How can I find out what they they are having an issue with that is delaying them issuing the refund?

I think that there loads of people having the exact same issue.

From what it seems, the COVID-19 pandemic has caused the IRS to take a long break from processing returns and are just now getting back to business. The stimulus checks took a lot of time away from tax return processing too. My tax return was filed electronically and accepted by the IRS the next day, March 18. And it has continued to say "being processed" ever since that day.

I don't know when I will ever get my refund because the page does not provide any more information.

It's really disheartening to be waiting 3+ months (and counting) for a refund when my tax refund for 2018 only took two weeks to arrive in my bank account. 😕😕

For those of you following this thread, you're going to LOVE this: I've periodically checked my tax refund status, and like most of you, mine said that my return was still being processed - going on 4 months now! Based on all of the info I put into TurboTax, I was supposed to be receiving a $4,000 refund, roughly. I've used TT for many years and never had a problem with the software; however, last night when I checked my refund status, it says that my refund is now $0.00, not $4,000. I don't know why yet, as they're mailing me a letter with an explanation, but it will be the first time EVER that my return has been wrong in some way and resulted in no refund whatsoever. I'll keep you posted.
