Letter 6419 is the one for child tax credit payments---the monthly payments they sent between July and December. Do not confuse that with the stimulus money. How many kids under the age of 18 did you claim? Did you receive those monthly payments for all six months?

Going to reply to all comments yes I'm positive my transcripts clearly show my EIP deposit at 3500.00 my bank statements are the exact same 3500.00. My letter is 8400.00 full amount. I also did not receive my full portion of ctc either from July - Dec but that letter was correct. I called the IRS and the rep told me one of two things will happen 1. The IRS will pay my refund but deduct the missing stimulus and i will then have to respond to the letter they issue with MY documents proving the amount i received and their error. or 2. The IRS will investigate further and see the error once they receive my return she said it is possible that ONLY the letter is showing an error amount since my transcripts are showing the actual amount but either way it MUST be paid to me rather it is when my return hits or if i have to send my proof.
Me and my wife both got letters totaling 7,000 checked our bank statement and we only got 4,200 for EIP 3
You are probably mixing between letter 6475 Economic Impact Payment (this letter helps EIP recipients determine if they're eligible to claim the Recovery Rebate Credit on their 2021 tax year returns) and letter 6419 which is the official documentation that has the details you need to report your advance Child Tax Credit (CTC) payments.
In TurboTax,The Recovery Rebate Credit will be found in the Federal Review section. You will enter the amount reported on letter 6475.
For the CTC payments, check the link How do I enter my advance Child Tax Credit payments in TurboTax?
This situation also happened to me. My husband and I both got letter 6475. His was correct- he received $700. Mine said I received a check for $3500 but my check was $1400 (I received no additional checks). I understand that now I have to fill out the form for a trace? And send it in to the wild blue yonder and wait for how long??? So in the meantime I have to complete my taxes stating that I received a $3500 check when in fact I received a $1400 check... just because that is what this letter states? I thought the IRS does not want you to falsify your tax return? I still have the check bc I deposited it electronically.
You should each get a letter for half. Did you mean 700 or 7,000? If his letter was for 3,500 that would be half of 7,000. Did you file a Joint return and claim 3 dependents? 1,400 x 5 = 7,000. Check back though your bank statements and check BOTH your accounts at the IRS to see what they say they sent you.

Also don't mix up letters 6475 & 6419? 6475 is for the 3rd Stimulus 1,400 per person
Letter 6419 is for the Advance Child Tax Credit if they sent you any.
I received a $108 direct deposit in March however my Letter 6475 states that I received $1400. Do I also need to submit a trace? It's not completely missing, just incorrect...
Could that have been your 2020 refund? Keep looking for the 1400. Look at your bank account for the whole rest of the year.
I checked everything.. I got a letter from the IRS saying " we are holding your refund untill we can further process it"
Smh
Calling for a trace will probably be a waste of time. I was on hold for 30 - 60 minutes before someone answered. She then told me she would transfer me where they do the trace. When I transferred I received a message that stated the call volume was to high & I would have to call back later. She could not give me that phone number when I asked for it. This has been happening to several people.
