Tax Payment

Hello,

I have already filed my taxes using TurboTax and set it up to have the tax payment taken out of my account on July 15.

However, I will not have those funds available on that date and need to change this.

How is this done?

Please advise,

Joseph Leet

Please see this TurboTax FAQ on how to change the direct debit date. Note, however, that because of the COVID-19 situation, you may have difficulty in reaching someone by phone (as noted in the FAQ).

You can’t change your payment date in TurboTax after your return has been accepted but you can cancel it and make other payment arrangements with the IRS.

Federal tax direct debit payments can be canceled up to 2 business days prior to the debit date. To cancel, call the U.S. Treasury Financial Agent at 888-353-4537.  (users have posted no significant delays using this number)

Then, to schedule a new payment, go to the IRS Direct Pay site.

Please be aware that due to IRS office closures and limited staffing, they have temporarily suspended phone services.
