I entered my informatiin from my 1099 form but when my return was transmitted to the IRS that information was not. I reviewed everything 3 times before actually filing, and all 3 times it showed the info I keyed in from my 1099. Yet I recieve a letter from the IRS stating my return was missing info. Upon review all that was transmitted to the irs was my w-2 info but no 1099. So my return wasn't accepted.
What 1099 form are you referring to? As stated there are almost two dozen different types.
A 1099-MISC, 1099-NEC, SSA-1099, 1099-B, 1099-S, 1099-INT, 1099-DIV, 1099-R, etc.
Same here. They just sent me a notice about not being able to take out my money that was due for filing. Yea you’re not getting money until I do TurboTax. Also my IRS transcript says I didn’t file but it also says processing
@maxsmommy16 We cannot be sure which of the 60+ posts in this thread that you are saying is the "same here" for you. But if you chose to have TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund:
Is your refund taking an unusually long time to arrive? Or was your refund seized to pay a debt you owed? if so, you signed an agreement that says TT can withdraw its fees from your account. TurboTax would have sent several emails to you before they took the money out of your account.

I filed on March 16th and it is still saying processing. I have contacted every avenue I know-how. I have even spoken with my congressman's office. No one has answers for why it is over 30 days much less 120 days. I have never got a stimulus because my ex-husband made too much money in 2019 when we were still married. He left in March of 2020. So this is my first time filing as head of household. Now there saying it is the Social Security office's fault that they never submitted my name change. OMG I have never gotten a return and was so excited so I can finally pay off some debt!
Omg sorry to hear that but I'm going through the same thing.but at least you don't have someone opening up turbotax accounts using your information and turbotax say it's not fraud cause they haven't filed yet in your name but I'm still waiting to since may 24
If they have yet to resolve the issue and rule you out I suggest you go to the cops and put a complaint in. I don't expect they will resolve it however, you will be on the record as having made a complaint, and therefore, by the process of elimination, you do that, eliminating your name. I don't think I have ever read an issue where the bad guy told the cops to look at him when he was guilty. Normally they try and stay as far away as possible. Give it a try and if it doesn't work I will happily return everything you paid me.
So everyone is still waiting for their returns as well, I have been waiting for a while and cant get a hold of anyone
And now Turbo Tax is charging ME because the government is holding our money… never doing taxes with them again
I finally got my refund last week. It wasn't a lot of money only $384.00. The amount they sent was $182.60. The reason for this is we did not receive a stimulus in check in 2020. After my return was completely done TurboTax asks this question at the end and makes the calculation based on what I entered on my return. The IRS claims TurboTax computed this incorrectly and adjusted my refund accordingly. This is not a confidence builder for TurboTax. I buy this software believing TurboTax has the expertise to make these types of calculations based on current tax law and as long as I enter my information truthfully and correctly. Lucky for me it was only a $240.00 decrease in my refund and I'm not in any trouble with the IRS. I have used TurboTax for many years but next time I will probably use one of the competitors tax programs.
I'm in the same situation. I filed on 4/2, and it's been 11 weeks. I talked to someone who was working from home for the IRS, and they said how backloged they are and that it would take more like 11 weeks. Well now that has come and gone and I still get there is no status update on the where's my refund. AND now Turbo Tax wants to take my fee's out of my account because they have not seen the refund.
I know people that filed the last day they could and got their refunds in 2 weeks. Does the IRS has it in for people that use Turbo Tax???
Very frustrating, with no answers.
@KSQuinn No the IRS does not "have it in" for people who used TurboTax. The IRS does not know what tax software you used nor do they care. There are millions of people whose refunds are delayed. The reasons-----the IRS is backlogged from the pandemic. Add that to the millions of stimulus checks they have had to issue, and then add some mid-season tax law changes by Congress that required changes to tax forms and recalculation of millions of tax returns.
And.....yes, there are people who got quick refunds. But there are several things that can delay your refund---especially (but not limited to) the recovery rebate credit, unemployment or the premium tax credit.
From this IRS website - https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/irs-operations-during-covid-19-mission-critical-functions-continue
As of May 15, 2021, we had 300,000 individual tax returns received prior to 2021 in the processing pipeline. Including current year returns, as of May 15, 2021, we had 16.4 million unprocessed individual returns in the pipeline. Unprocessed returns include those requiring correction to the Recovery Rebate Credit amount or validation of 2019 income used to figure the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC). This work does not require us to correspond with taxpayers but does require special handling by an IRS employee so, in these instances, it is taking the IRS more than 21 days to issue any related refund. If, as a result, a correction is made to any RRC, EITC or ACTC claimed on the return, the IRS will send taxpayers an explanation. Taxpayers are encouraged to continue to check Where’s My Refund? for their personalized refund status and can review Tax Season Refund Frequently Asked Questions.
Doesn’t help that Turbo Tax mislead everyone to think that the fees would come out of their refunds. Not our fault the government is behind on our refunds, and with the issues of it being some of the calculations on turbo tax software, with the non-received stimulus’s. Turbo tax should not be penalizing their loyal customers, when it’s their own, and the governments fault. Last time I will use turbo tax.
@TobyR You were not misled---but you may have been in such a hurry to file your tax return that you paid no attention to the fact that you signed an agreement that said the fee could be deducted from your account if it took too long for the IRS to issue your refund. The emails that have been sent to you have given you a number to call and get the auto debit deferred. Have you called to ask to have it delayed?
Did you choose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund? Is your refund taking an unusually long time to arrive? Or was your refund seized to pay a debt you owed? if so, you signed an agreement that says TT can withdraw its fees from your account. @xmasbaby0 yes ma’am I was in a hurry to file… it’s called a deadline.
NO my taxes were not held do to a debt. Yes I chose to have them taken out of my federal return. AND YES I WAS mislead.
Whether I missed the fine print on the details of the charge for my taxes, if my refund didn’t come in time. But if I saw that I would’ve chosen to pay for it up front, and not worry about a surprise charge later.
I understand you want to defend your company (clear as day you work for them) but what they are doing to the American people, over what the government is doing it wrong.
But thanks for the arrogant response, and hopefully this mess and turbo tax clean up soon!
