If you filed already, you have to wait for the return to be fully processed before you can amend it to change how you answered the question of whether you can be claimed as someone else's dependent.  And if you meet the criteria to be claimed, you have to say you can be claimed even if no one claimed you.

Realistically, amending now is unlikely to result in a stimulus check this year.  Amended returns normally take about four months to be processed.  They are taking much longer at this time.  You can get the stimulus money on your 2020 return when you file it in 2021, if you are eligible then.

How do I amend my 2019 TurboTax Online return?

A 1040X cannot be e-filed.  It must be printed and mailed.  It will take about 4 months for the IRS to process an amended return.  It is a good idea to use a mailing service that will track it, like UPS or certified mail, so you will know it was received.

Wait about 3 weeks from mailing and you can check the status of your amended return:

No, the stimulus payments are not considered income.
