For a few taxpayers, the IRS had an issue processing Economic Impact Payment 3s, reissuing payments back to the same account that rejected the payment initially.
For our customers, they would have noticed their payment being sent to an account that was rejected. Instead of updating account information or issuing a check the IRS attempted a second deposit to the same account that was rejected during the first attempt.
For customers impacted by this issue, please assure them the IRS will mail a check within 14 days to the address on file for the most recent tax return (TY20 or TY19). The IRS Get My Payment (GMP) status will reflect that a check is being mailed. When the IRS reissues a payment, they will update the status no more than once a day at: IRS Get My Payment
Mine showed 3/17 and then 3/31, bank says they wouldn’t deposit it twice to a closed account then says wow why?! Also, the letters I’m receiving from the IRS about my payment are from the 2nd one that was mailed. So there are no answers, just keep regurgitating the same stuff with no answers
I appreciate you repeating yourself throughout this thread however the IRS get my payment tool is in fact not updating with any information after the second attempt at depositing into a closed account. Moreover, if TurboTax had the correct updated information from the second check, why was that not supplied to the IRS for this third one. And again, why did they deposit a second time into a closed account. All that tells me is that there’s nothing but laziness and apathy throughout the IRS. When you say a few people were affected, sorry to say it’s more than a few people. And none of us can seem to get any answers. It would be one thing if the payment tool was actually updated like you’re saying, but it is not. And nobody will help.
Same problem! They went off my 2019 return and showed a deposit March 17 into my closed account. Then get my payment updated to another direct deposit into same closed account for March 31 . Received an email from TurboTax not to worry your information has been updated with the irs with second stimulus. What a complete lie . Can’t get a straight answer from anyone the stimulus hotline is a complete joke and I have called TurboTax several times and received several different answers. Definitely my last year using TurboTax! I would not recommend them to anyone.
I should have also noted I did verify with the bank that they did attempt to deposit it into the closed bank account twice .
The Irs did the exact same thing to me gave me a direct deposit date of March 17th to a closed acct, it was Obviously rejected in sent back because then I got The date for March 31st direct deposit into the same closed account. So here I sit about to be put out my house on April 26th so by the time they do get me a paper check I'll be homeless and not at this address to get it. Wow fml 😪
Im going threw this exact same thing they issued my payment to same closed acct twice and I updated my bank info with turbo tax for the 2and one also. And my Get my payment porthole still just shows it was issued to my closed acct on March 31st thst was the 2and time... I'm so lost, I got evection court on April 26th due to my lease expired I'm not protected by CDC moritorm. So by the time it shows in the mail my dirty lowlife landlord will be checking the mail fml and I'll be under a bridge somewhere for real!! Sad sad USA

Continue to use the IRS Get My Payment to track your stimulus.
Again that’s been repeated throughout this thread. The issue is that the IRS is not updating their get my payment to a website with where it is now and what is happening next. Those of us that continue to say the same thing on this thread and met with the same response like yours, are all saying the same thing. We’re all aware that they did it because were the ones that happen to. We are waiting for a response from somebody and where it is now and when we will get it.
Can TurboTax please explain to me why they were able to fix this issue with no problem with the second stimulus payment. I received an email about my stimulus going into my closed account updated my information through their portal and received it a couple days later . Why not this time?
Why do you keep copy and pasting? These answers are not helping anyone here. Mine was deposited into a closed bank account on the 17th and 31st and no update since then. I know for sure the bank must've rejected it already. It makes no sense that they deposited it into a closed account TWICE, and are taking their sweet old time to send a check.
Exactly I did the same thing was able to change bank info with turbo tax and 5 days later had my second stimulus
Get my payment updated yesterday for me to check being mailed on 04/16/2021 after two direct deposit attempts into a closed bank account . We will see how long this takes to arrive. Hopefully before Christmas!
Mine updated to being mailed on April 16th, which is so stupid. The bank rejected it a month ago, no reason people should have to wait this long. Especially when my account information was changed for 2nd stimulus
Mine was sent to closed accounts 2 n 3 stimulus deposits ..I received a letter stating since mine went to wrong account and sent back a hold was placed on account and it can take 10 weeks to review and release funds .Letter states since I requested direct deposit I never requested direct deposit
