For a few taxpayers, the IRS had an issue processing Economic Impact Payment 3s, reissuing payments back to the same account that rejected the payment initially.
For our customers, they would have noticed their payment being sent to an account that was rejected. Instead of updating account information or issuing a check the IRS attempted a second deposit to the same account that was rejected during the first attempt.
For customers impacted by this issue, please assure them the IRS will mail a check within 14 days to the address on file for the most recent tax return (TY20 or TY19). The IRS Get My Payment (GMP) status will reflect that a check is being mailed. When the IRS reissues a payment, they will update the status no more than once a day at: IRS Get My Payment
