It took a long time, but as of April 7th, I finally got to the bottom of this! Somehow I ended up with 3 accounts with Green Dot (the Visa prepaid debit cards), obviously only needed one, but I used it for my direct deposit for my 2019 income tax return, ONLY, then I was later told the account was closed since the balance was $0 and there had been no activity on it for quite a while, which was fine since I now had a regular bank account. Long story short, after many phone calls and a lot of digging, the money WAS deposited into that CLOSED Green Dot account on Dec. 31st, been fighting with them ever since, trying to get MY money! There's no doubt that by the time I'm done with this, I will use the money for the new blood pressure medication I'll be needing soon! The worst customer service EVER!
Hello it came in the mail Then you get your letter
I didn't want to start a new thread, so I just continued this one.
I have this same reference number. I did not receive the $600 stimulus check and filed it as a recovery rebate credit. I even went onto my account on the IRS website and confirmed that I never received the credit on their end. I have no outstanding debts, no student loans, none of that. I got the other two checks, just not the second one. I don't understand why they took it away!
I got my adjusted refund this morning through direct deposit, but I still haven't received my letter explaining why. What have you guys been able to do? Should I just wait for the letter or should I call them as soon as possible? If this is a Turbo Tax problem, this will be my first and last year on the platform
9021– Reference Code for all math error conditions. Note that a "math error" can occur if you make a data entry mistake, or forget to claim some income; and thus the refund amount is incorrectly calculated.. The IRS will be sending you a letter. They do not notify TT
The IRS accepted my refund on February 12, 2021.
My Return had been changed , BY THE IRS and I have been trying to contact them since April 5th when I when I got notification . They stated I had a mathematical error stating that I had claimed someone I didn't and I didn't have any dependants6 on my return. The irs changed my to A $0 amount and now I can't get anyone to speak with me.
I don't know how you got my income tax wrong but I feel good amount with TurboTax and they were right down to the T I draw Social Security of 29 72 a year and I live alone so I don't know what your problem is or what you messed up on there but I need to have it fixed
We are unable to view your return here in this public forum. It would be best to contact us by phone by following the instructions here.
This will allow us to do a deeper look @Lewis1928.
What is letter about I haven’t received it yet
@SHANYCE28 If you mean you are seeing on the IRS site that you will be getting a 9021 letter, that letter refers to "math errors" on your return. That is a generic term the IRS uses that can refer to wrong information you may have entered which led to incorrect calculations. No one in the user forum can see your return so we do not know what error you might have.
But here is an educated guess:
LOTS of people have made mistakes this year with the recovery rebate credit by "forgetting" that they received the $1400 per person stimulus checks last year. They answered no to the questions for the recovery recovery rebate credit and put the $1400 per person on line 30 of their returns. But you cannot get it twice, so the IRS removes it when it is there by mistake.
Try checking your online account with the IRS
https://www.irs.gov/payments/your-online-account
Does the IRS show that you received a $1400 stimulus or EIP check in 2021? Did you receive it? When you were asked on your tax return did you say no? Was there $1400 on line 30 of your tax return?
If the IRS says you got $1400 last year but you did not receive it you can have it traced.
LOST THIRD STIMULUS CHECK
