Again thank you for the suggestions. I have tried those suggestions and many others. Since I get at least two 'Get My Payment' log-in attempts a day (before being locked out for 24 hours), I have been able to try all possible entries: 2019 info, 2018 info, different number formats, caps/lowercase, etc, etc. Your reply here intrigues me because you mention AGI but I am not even getting as far as being asked that. I go to 'Get My Payment' and am asked for social security number, date of birth, street address (specifically not city, state, or country), and postal code. Upon entering this info I receive the "information does not match..." error message. I am assuming the AGI prompt you refer to is requested on the next page? Because it is not asked for initially. Just a small observation. Again, ultimately I am banking on my dead end being the result of an accepted but "unprocessed" 2019 tax return.
Thanks Critter.
Line 20 and line 22 match on my return - $362. Line 21a is $0. My transcript matches the return for AGI, tax due, payments and refund but I received a refund check from the IRS for $1 for the 2019 tax year. Maybe a rounding error not evident in the transcript (?).
I mentioned that I tried all possible refund amount combinations when entering in the Get Payment site - $362, $363, $1 and $0. I tried the $1 and $0 in case applying the refund to the 2020 tax year was causing the issue. Entered 2018 information also and still received "information does not match." My wife tried too since we file jointly but still the same message received.
I think I am just one that will have to wait to August/September for a check. Maybe after the IRS's "upgrade" maybe the information will match.
@Anonymous - correct AGI will be on the 2nd screen
on the address, assuming your 2019 tax return has been processed, are you using the address that is on that tax return? did you pull it out and copy it EXACTLY? those are just hunches.....
I am also having the same problem that my info does not match but mine seems to be with my ss# itself ,,, after I get the message that my info does not match the previous screen comes back and their is a red box around the area that you put your ss# and my ss# is gone,,, my address is still ok
Yeah, have been copying the address exactly as shown on my TurboTax submitted tax return PDF... There is an apostrophe in the street address and my postal code is Irish. It is very difficult to determine if those things would impact. I have been trying every possible way: apostrophe, no apostrophe, caps, postal code format, etc. Since I am in a unique situation - international 2019 address & 2018 direct deposit account no longer active, I am trying to piece together all info I can find. For me, as long as the government will mail a paper check to my Irish address then I don't mind waiting. And supposedly they are doing that according to sources/blogs/articles online. However, it would be nice to track via 'Get My Payment' and even better if I can provide new direct deposit info for quicker and safer payment. Anyway, I will update this thread if I come across new helpful info.
I would not assume that your social security number is necessarily the problem. Same thing happens to me where social disappears and address remains. I think it is safe to say they make you re-enter the social every time simply because it is very sensitive info. So the address could still very well be the source of error.
@Anonymous - i have seen elsewhere that the tool really doesn't take to foreign addresses - so that is most likely the issue
Hey guys a quick update..
I was able to submit my bank information with their portal.
I just created a account with IRS, filled out a few identity verification questions and got a online transcript of my tax return. upon looking thru the details found that my income was different by one dollar; $ 54,117 which my tax papers i had on hand reads $54,118... I corrected that and submitted it and it worked, hope this helps
Hey so i actually gotten mine bank info submitted check my update post
Although any help is better than none at all, I've literally tried ALL suggestions on this thread with no avail (ie all caps, looking up transcript, refund status, etc...). Could just be my particular situation but I doubt it. We won't give up though... at least I won't (my family is depending on this money). So keep those suggestions coming, I'll try them all.
Ugh! The verification questions to get the transcript don’t work! They say it’s wrong info when I’m literally reading off the account # to my car, my student loan and credit card. I give up!!!
Same thing here but with my government student loan, go figure, they can't even find their own account. Does that mean I don't have to pay it back, lol... I wish. No, they will find you when they want money but when you need them, no go. I also find it frustrating that when they can't find your information, they just tell you they can't verify and your sent back to the home screen with no alternative.
My return was accepted . now it's telling me that my information does not match theirs, meaning IRS . what do I do now?
I have a non-filer I filed through TurboTax and I got a text message email saying that it was accepted two emails and when I check it my payment it said status not available then I checked it the other day and it says your information does not match hours I'm confused my return is correct I double-checked it and I don't know why it would be like this can somebody help me out on what do I do next
Found this thread while trying to solve my issue with my frustration with the stimulus check and was finally able to find the cheat code after numerous attempts. I have always been able to get through the initial IRS screen with SSN, address, etc, but could never get my Adjusted Gross Income and Refund Amount to match successfully so would always get locked out every day no matter what I tried.
Today I even created an account with the IRS so I could get my official 2018 tax transcript and all the numbers still matched up with what I was entering so what to do? I contacted my tax software for help and they didn't have a clue, tried calling the IRS, but of course, their offices are closed, but kept searching on google and found this snippet that isn't for the stimulus check, but kind of applied to my situation:
"What should I answer if I didn't file a 2018 tax return or if I filed it after November 10, 2019?
If the IRS didn't receive and process your 2018 tax return by December 7, 2019, tell us you didn't file a return or enter "0" (zero) as your 2018 AGI. Usually the IRS has enough time to process your return if you mail it by November 10, 2019."
We filed in early January for 2018. So we entered 0 for our adjusted gross income in the IRS stimulus portal and then entered our refund amount exactly at it was (I assume do the same if you had to pay), and low and behold, our bank information was updated. Truth be told it took all the rest of my chances for today and two for my wife before we figured out the correct combination, but there you go, it worked for us and hope it will work for you. Your free Nintendo Power code for the day.
If it works, all tips can be sent to this unemployed worker in southwest Virginia, lol.
