incorrect refund amount

I was supposed to get $3146 from Fed 2022 tax return as a direct deposit. I filed it around Mar 20, 2022 and it was accepted.   Today, I got a notice from my bank of pending deposit..  It was MORE THAN 3X the stated amount!!    What's going on!?

@jvhjrh4bjgj - you will have to wait the letter from the IRS in a few weeks. In the mean time you might want to review your transcript at IRS.gov and maybe you'll be able to figure out what happened.  It is unusual.

Did you perhaps make some estimated payments that you forgot to enter on the tax form---that the IRS knew about and caught for you?  The IRS will send a letter telling you what they did, but the letters are often several weeks behind the refund.
