The IRS will issue direct deposits to taxpayers that requested a direct deposit disbursement or applied for a new debit card when they prepared their own return online. An IRS-issued check will be mailed to taxpayers that requested a check printed from their tax professional's office, Walmart Direct2Cash or a Walmart MoneyCard issued by their tax professional.
If a payment is returned to the IRS (Ex. bank account is closed), the IRS will mail a check to the taxpayer.
In the rare event that payments are inadvertently sent to TPG, a plan is in place to help identify and expedite the return of these payments to the IRS so that the IRS can reissue payments directly to affected taxpayers as soon as possible. If we are unable to identify the payment as an Economic Impact Payment, the deposit will be processed as a federal refund, with all associated fees withheld from the deposit amount.(Via TOG).Good luck everyone
What questions are you asking?
Mine appeared this morning under pending transactions at my credit union.
They are saying they are opening a portal for people that filed their 2019 and the IRS doesn't have your direct deposit information, you can submit your banking info on there to get your stimulus payment.
Very good explanation. Very informative. This should help most people understand how it works.
Yep
Download the app IRS2GO its for tracking your return
So if it's not going on the turbo card where would I receive it and how do I change it
I filed with TurboTax and had the fees taken out so I am not sure if the IRS receives the direct deposit information on our tax return. Some are saying yes they will. If they don't, they are opening the portal mid April so if you haven't received your stimulus check yet you can check go on and see if the IRS has your direct deposit information and if they do not you can put it in. Not saying we won't get it on our card.
So my question again is will the Government direct deposit the funds to my turbo tax debit card? Or do I need to find another way....
If you paid fees out of your refund they are saying they are not sure if the IRS will have your information. If you didn't then yes it will go on your card. I would wait and see if you get it and if not by the time IRS opens the portal then you can check your status and if they don't have your information you can put it in.

I used the turbo card and wondered the same thing. I called turbo tax and was told that the IRS WILL NOT deposit onto prepaid cards. If you used the turbo debit card for your refund, you'll have to go to https://www.irs.gov/coronavirus/economic-impact-payments and click on the "get my payment" button and update your direct deposit information. This tool is not yet available (grayed out) but will be available in the next few days. Just keep checking it. I was also told this shouldn't delay the payment, and should be deposited very soon after the DD info is updated.
